Zurich QBP, 16 June 2009
Jun 26th, 2009 by nigel.coombs
The Zurich QBP was celebrated in good weather in the beautiful gardens of the Restaurant Belvoir Park with Swiss Piper, Daniel Schutz, welcoming participants. Some 55 BRA members and guests were present, including those from the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce, the Anglo-Swiss Club Luzern, the English Speaking Club Zurich, and other English speaking clubs in the region. It was also good to see some well behaved children!
Richard Artley guided the evening’s events and organized a raffle. Sarah Doig, the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy, proposed the Loyal Toast: other speakers were Regional Chairman, Joanna Koch, Carolyn Helbling of the BSCC and Brigadier Daniel Laetsch, the Director of the Swiss Military Academy. In her welcoming remarks, Joanna referred to the Meet the British programme which organises trips for Swiss Senior Citizens wishing to attend English courses in the UK.
Brigadier Laetsch spoke most movingly of seeing The Queen taking the salute at the Trooping of the Colour, of her special place in the hearts of people in Switzerland and her importance as a role model.
