Thirty-three of us were at the Queen’s Birthday Party on 9 June on a fine but cool evening. Although we were slightly less than in other years, it was a great pleasure to welcome three people who either recently became members or are in the process of doing so. Peter Steimle as Consular  Warden proposed the Loyal Toast. He also gave a toast to Prince Philip for his 90th Birthday. We were able to express our warmest thanks to Peter for all that he has done for the British in Ticino.
Twenty people stayed on to dinner, including Peter and his wife Ursula, but this year it was too windy to be outside. We raised our glasses to Betty Greenwood who was at the dinner with her son and wished her Many Happy Returns of the Day for her 90th Birthday. She is still driving, playing bridge, and going out to events and is an example to us all.
