On the hottest night of the year, a number of BRA members attended the Orpheum Foundation Extra Concert and they were well rewarded. The Tonhalle was full to the last seat and the orchestra, the Tschaikowsky-Sinfonieorchester from Russia exceeded all expectations. The two young soloists gave bravura performances, Claire Huangci with Grieg’s Piano Concert in A-minor, and Alena Baeva on a Stradivari playing Prokofiev’s Violin Concert, No. 1 in D-major. It seems sure that they too, like previous Orpheum soloists, will have successful international careers.
